The aim of this course is to study the History, the ideas and the Culture of France, as reflected in French literature.  Language study is also continued through lectures, essays and discussion groups. This is a multimedia course including CDs, DVDs and the WWW.

 Main Learning Outcome: Students will be able to analyze and explain French literature texts   (novel, theater, poetry, essay) from the middle Ages to the present according to their historical, ideological and aesthetic context.

Teaching methods    

1.    Lectures: 1.2 x 2 hours per week by the instructor.
2.    Seminars : 1 hour per week with the TA
