Nancy Stoten Memorial Scholarships

The parents, family and friends of Nancy Stoten have provided funds for two annual scholarships of $1000. The first is awarded to a student enrolled in French Studies, having completed less than 31 courses (or 15.5 credits) who has achieved the highest average in FREN*1200, FREN*2020, FREN*2060 and FREN*2520. The second scholarship is awarded to the student who has achieved the highest average in their 3rd and 4th year French courses.

 

Consul General of Belgium Prize

Each year a book prize is awarded to a student living in the Maison Française who has made the greatest contribution to the program of the residence and to the promotion of francophone culture. The recipient must also have good academic standing. The prize is awarded at the end of the winter semester by the Belgian Consul General.

 

French Consul Prize

Following the completion of the 6th semester, the French Consul offers a book prize to a student for their work in oral French. This award will be made on the basis of selection by faculty in the Department of French Studies.

 

Le Prix Léopold Senghor

A book prize donated by the Honourary Consul for Senegal has been awarded in alternate years since 1981-1982 to a 5th-6th- semester student with good academic standing. It is awarded to a student who has achieved excellence in the study of francophone African literatures, and in particular the literature of Senegal. The recipient, who must also have good academic standing, will be selected on the basis of performance in the course Post-colonial Francophone Fiction.

 

Swiss Embassy Prizes

The Swiss Consulate offers an annual book prize to an outstanding honour student in French at the end of the 8th semester.

 

CASU French Prize

A book prize donated by the College of Arts Student Union to a student in French Studies who has contributed significantly to University life.
