Prof. Alfons Weersink of the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) has recently been selected to attend the 122nd annual European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) seminar in Ancona, Italy on February 17th and 18th.

The seminar program will be based on the theme "Evidence-Based Agricultural and Rural Policy Making: Methodological and Empirical Challenges of Policy Evaluation".

The Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) recently announced that it will invest more than $61 million in research projects across 48 Canadian universities. Five research initiatives at the University of Guelph have received more than $815,000 since this announcement.

The Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) was well represented at the recent Future of Farms & Food in Canada conference held in Ottawa, Ontario. This conference marked the first of what is planned to be an annual conference for professionals working in the Canadian agricultural policy sector.

The final oral examination for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy for Henry Anim-Somuah took place on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Rozanski Hall, Room 106.  The title of Henry's presentation is:  "Determinants of Micro and Small Enterprise Performance:  The Agri-Food Sector of Ghana".
