On Monday April 29th, UGSRP held its ‘Tipped Out?’ forum at George Brown College in Toronto. Speakers at the event included academics, restaurateurs and a member of provincial parliament. The audience of industry members and students was treated to a two-hour passionate discussion about this very controversial subject.
We are delighted to announce that we have received notification from the MTCU that the new Master of Science degree program in Tourism and Hospitality was “Approved to Commence”. The School has received QC and AC Approval Letters for the MSc program in Tourism and Hospitality and GDip (Type 1) in Tourism Studies and GDip (Type 3) in Tourism Research. A hearty congratulations to the school faculty and to all involved in the process.

GUELPH, Ont. March 19, 2013 - The School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, University of Guelph; and George Brown College Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts are thrilled to announce Tipped Out, a forum on handling tips in restaurants. The forum will be held on Monday, April 29th, 2 – 4 p.m. at George Brown College, St. James Campus, Room 128, 200 King Street East, Toronto. There is no charge to attend.
On April 18th, a group of students along with Professor Taillon attended the HFTP Regional Conference at the Marriott on Yonge Street in Toronto. The all-day event featured speakers and hotel industry professionals from all over Eastern Canada: from Toronto and Ottawa to Montreal and Halifax. Session topics included best practices in cash handling procedures, leadership, team-building, and management strategies for the hotel industry's multi-generational workforce.
