PISCeS eDNA Conference Presenter Information
Poster and Oral presentation guidelines:
Posters:
- Recommended dimensions are 4 ft x 3 ft (48 in x 36 in).
- Posters can be portrait (3 ft width by 4 ft height) or horizontal (4 ft width by 3 ft length).
- Poster board size is 4 ft high, 5 ft wide.
- Poster presentations will take place on the evening of June 18 and June 19.
- Posters should be set up on June 18th earlier in the day before the presentations start.
Lightning Talks:
- Prepare a 5-minute presentation in PowerPoint.
- There won’t be time for questions during the Lightning talk presentations.
- Be sure to include the following information on the first slide:
- Title
- Presenter’s Name and Institution
- Presenter’s headshot*
* Having your photo on the first slide will help the audience to find you and ask questions or discuss your project after your presentation.
- Use only common Fonts on your slides to avoid last minute issues or incompatibility among computers or OS.
- Avoid excessive use of animations.
- No videos allowed for this type of presentation.
Here are some Tips:

- Focus on key elements of your research.
- You can breakdown your presentation into 3 main parts: the hook, the body, conclusions
- Be clear and concise.
- Don’t forget that your audience is already familiar with eDNA.
Regular Talks:
- Prepare a 12-minute presentation in PowerPoint and plan for ~3 minutes of questions.
- Use only common Fonts on your slides to avoid last minute issues or incompatibility among computers or OS.
- Avoid excessive use of animations.
- Videos must be embedded in PowerPoint. Do not use links to YouTube or other webservices in your presentations.
