Healthy Workplace Month Calendar- October 2020

Through the Wellness@Work initiative we are proud to be hosting our fourth annual Healthy Workplace Month at the University of Guelph. The Wellness@Work Programming Committee invites you to take part in some of the fun, free activities to help boost workplace wellness across our institution.

Support U of G’s United Way Campaign

Each year, U of G joins together to support the United Way.  Typically, there are a variety of in-person fundraising events and activities across the University.  This year will look different due to COVID-19, but the need is still there.

Support U of G’s Student FoodBank

Many students have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. The Guelph Student FoodBank provides food for current undergraduate and graduate students who are in need of emergency food.

Choose your Own At-Home Adventure

As the nights start to get darker quicker and the weather gets colder, you may be looking for some new indoor virtual activities you can participate in.  The Wellness@Work Programming Committee have compiled a few online resources you can check out to learn something new, explore unique places around the world, have some fun and/or connect with others.

30 Day Challenge: A Daily Practice Challenging Barriers to Equity

Wellbeing Waterloo Region have designed a 30 day challenge with daily practices challenging barriers to equity. The U of G Wellness@Work Programming Committee encourages you to do this challenge throughout the month of  November.

Sign-up for the Challenge

Register for this challenge to receive reminders from Wellness@Work, as well as a calendar invitation for the de-brief session on December 3, 10-11am.

Summer Sunshine: Enjoy the outdoors & boost your mood

Summer is officially here and I hope you are taking time to enjoy the outdoors!  Researchers have showed decreased levels of anxiety, rumination and negative affect, in addition to cognitive benefits, in participants who completed a 50-minute walk in nature (Bratman, Daily, Levy & Gross, 2015).

COVID-19 Workplace Re-entry Toolkit

This Toolkit has been created by Homewood Health to support organizations and leaders in decision making.

"This pandemic Workplace Re-entry Toolkit is a consolidation of content focused on the considerations facing employers and employees as the world prepares for life after COVID-19. We’ve put together a package of informative materials to support you and your organization. Additionally, we’ve included resources for managers and employees, providing guidance and support while addressing some frequently asked questions."

COVID-19: Employee Fatigue, Isolation and Loneliness

"As we near the summer months, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic continues – filled with evolving new norms of how we go about our daily lives. We know that self-isolation and physical distancing are necessary, as they are preventative measures to slow the spread  of the virus and the risk of infection. As we adopt and implement modifications to our routines, these changes can be linked to psychological effects including feelings of fatigue, isolation, and loneliness."
