The school year is starting and that means new faces, new classes and a whole new fall literary season packed with events. The program kicks off our semester with the annual tradition of a new-and-returning student reading at the Eden Mills Writers Festival, hosted by program director Catherine Bush. Later in the month, you can also look forward to seeing program alumni at Toronto's Word on the Street. Check out event details and links below...
Our heartiest congratulations go out to MFA grad Leanne Milech, this year’s winner of the Carter V. Cooper Short Fiction Award (emerging writer), presented by Exile/ELQ, and sponsored by Gloria Vanderbilt in honour of her late son.
We asked MFA alumni publishing books this season what they’re reading, and what they'd recommend. Here, Ayelet Tsabari shares what's on her bookshelf:
"I always have piles upon piles of books—in two languages!—on my bedside table. This winter I am one of the judges for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award along with Richard Van Camp and Heather O’Neill so I’m mostly reading short story collections these days, which I love! There were so many great collections last year.
