Congratulations to Ric Knowles!

Posted on Monday, October 23rd, 2017

On behalf of the School, congratulations to Ric Knowles who was made a University Professor Emeritus at convocation on October 21, 2017.  The honor is a richly deserved recognition of Ric's tremendous contributions to theatre as a scholar and practitioner.  Ric delivered the convocation address which spoke of the importance of recognizing, respecting and learning from difference.  It was an excellent address which hit the appropriate balance of encouraging words while making a clear, compelling point about being an engaged citizen in the twenty-first century.

The University of Guelph resides on the land of the Between the Lakes Treaty No. 3, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. This land is part of the Dish with One Spoon, a covenant between Indigenous nations to live peaceably on the territories of the Great Lakes region. We recognize that today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and acknowledging them reminds us of our collective responsibility to the land where we learn, live and work.
