Deep Dish Dialogues - Food and Faith

In this Deep Dish Dialogues we'll be learning how food is used to celebrate holidays in Jewish, Roman Catholic and Sikh faiths. Rabbi Raphi Steiner will be demonstrating how to make latkes which can be used to celebrate Hanukkah. Father Patrick Ohl and Ania Krysciak will be preparing a polish dish typically served on Christmas Eve. And Charandeep Dhillon will show us how to make karah prasad, a sacred offering served to all who visit and pray in a Gurdwara. Throughout the event we will also discuss how the Multi-Faith Resource team at the University of Guelph supports students.

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Certification CLASSROOM

The Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Wines certification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. Explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

Prud'homme Level 1 Beer Certification ONLINE

This e-learning introductory course in beer education is designed for participants interested in furthering their knowledge and interest in beer. The course is completely self-directed and includes 8 separate modules and knowledge checks. It will take approximately 6 - 8 hours to complete and fully understand all of the material. Once complete, you will have access to the online exam. Upon receiving your login information, you will have 30 days to complete the course, including the examination.

We are excited to announce the soft opening at PJ's Restaurant on October 17th & 18th from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm! PJ's is a student-run restaurant located within Lang at the School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management in Macdonald Stewart Hall at the University of Guelph. The restaurant is an experiential learning class (HTM*3090 - Restaurant Operations), where third- and fourth-year Hospitality and Touirsm, as well as Nutrition students get a hands-on approach to the development and delivery of food and beverage services.

At the end of the summer, our gardens are brimming with food ready to be harvested. But what do you do if you’ve got more food than you can eat? With the help of Michael Smith, manager of the Guelph Centre for Urban Organic Farming, University of Guelph Executive Chef Vijay Nair and food safety expert, Dr. Keith Warriner, you’ll learn how to safely and deliciously process and preserve your food.

The University of Guelph is celebrating Food Day Canada early by bringing the Guelph community together! Get a taste of local cuisine in our Food Day Canada Showcase Chef Cookoff, shop through our marketplace of local food businesses, listen to live music, and purchase food from the Gryph n' Grille food truck’s exclusive Food Day Canada Showcase menu! There will also be many exhibits showcasing food-related research and activities taking place at the University of Guelph.
