Registration deadline: WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Spirits will introduce you to the basic principles of spirit production and the main types and styles of spirits available.  You will also learn how to serve spirits and understand the basic principles of marketing used for the sale of spirits and the issues relating to the safe consumption of spirits. This offering of the WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits will take place Sunday, October 15.

Registration deadline: WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits

Please register early.  These popular certifications fill up BEFORE the deadline date. The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits will teach you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, tasting techniques, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs.

Deadline to register: Prud'homme Beer Certification - Level 1 Beer Enthusiast

Open to the Public: This introductory course in beer education is designed for participants interested in furthering their knowledge and interest in beer. The focus will be on brewing ingredients and processes, tasting concepts, pouring and serving concepts (including an introduction to draught systems) and food and beer pairings. The registration deadline May 24th, 2017.

Deadline to register: Farmhouse Fermentation: Beer & Cheese

Join us for a fun beer tasting afternoon! Wine has always been the go to pairing with cheese, but beer is a worthy contender. Beer and cheese share a long history of farmhouse production, leading to a variety of regional styles and varieties of pairings. From the monastic traditions and small scale home productions beer and cheese share a lot in common. This is not intended to fully sway anyone over to the beer camp merely to introduce the delicious world of beer and cheese pairing. Be prepared to dazzle and challenge your taste buds.

Open to the Public: This one day course will introduce you to the basic principles of spirit production and the main types and styles of spirits available. Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 Award in Wines

Open to the Public: This seven week course is held on Sunday’s. The Level 3 Award in Wines (Condensed version) is designed to give a more comprehensive coverage of wines of the world. Students will benefit from in-depth tastings where they will learn to identify product style and quality. An exam will be held on week seven and successful candidates will receive a certification.

Deadline to register: Prud'homme Beer Certification - Level 1 Beer Enthusiast

Open to the Public: This introductory course in beer education is designed for participants interested in furthering their knowledge and interest in beer. The focus will be on brewing ingredients and processes, tasting concepts, pouring and serving concepts (including an introduction to draught systems) and food and beer pairings. Level 1 will be held on Sunday’s February 5th – 26th from 1 – 4 p.m at PJ's Restaurant - Macdonald Stewart Hall . Registration deadline is January 23, 2017.

Deadline to register: Canadian Brewing Traditions

Join us for a fun beer tasting afternoon! Focusing on the rich beer traditions entrenched in our nation’s history. The rise, fall and current resurgence of beer in Canada. John Molson & John Labatt were real guys, how Prohibition varied across the country and where we are headed with beer. The team at Escarpment Labs will join us to talk about the exciting work they do with brewing yeast, and how they are helping Ontario brewers tackle some new ground.
