UGSRP Symposium

Please hold the evening of Tuesday, March 15th for the next annual symposium held by the University of Guelph Sustainable Restaurant Project (UGSRP). UGSRP's team is a group of students, faculty and community partners that are committed to working towards a more sustainable future for the restaurant industry.  Each year a forum is held, bringing prominent speakers to the University of Guelph to discuss issues in the Canadian Restaurant Industry. Hospitality & Tourism Case Competition (HTCC)

The annual Hospitality & Tourism Case Competition (HTCC) provides an opportunity for students in Hospitality and Tourism programs to demonstrate their presentation, problem-solving skills and creativity by answering challenging case question in front of a panel of industry leaders. 

CAFP Chocolate and Beer Pairing Event

The Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals (CAFP) Guelph Student Branch is hosting a Chocolate and Beer Pairing event Friday, March 4th from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Experience the pairings between exquisite artisan chocolate and beer. The event will be held in MACS Room 209.

Talk on 'Consumer Perspectives on Animal Welfare' by Mike von Massow

Join Professor Mike von Massow on Thursday, January 28th from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. as he presents a talk on 'Consumer Perspectives on Animal Welfare: What They Think, What They Know and Why It Matters'.  The seminar hosted by the Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare will be held in Room 1800 in Pathobiology/AHL - Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph.  More info here.

HFTM 17th Annual Job Expo

The 17th Annual HFTM Job Expo will be held on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Peter Clark Hall in the University Centre. The Expo connects hundreds of students to over 20 employers offering summer, part/full-time positions.  All students enrolled in an HTM course are welcome to attend. HAFA/HFTM Alumni Career Networking Night

Join us on Wednesday, January 20th for the annual HAFA/HFTM Alumni Association Career Networking Night.   This event continues to be a success thanks to the enthusiastic participation from our alumni and students. Alumni are excited to come back to the School to meet and share their career experiences with our students.   The format of the evening will include round table discussions between alumni and students with each table focusing on a specific career area of interest to students.   

HFTM WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits Certification

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits certification is offered every Monday evening from January 18th to March 21st from 7 - 9:30 p.m. for 9 weeks. This qualification will teach you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, tasting techniques, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs. Will Predhomme, a prominent Canadian professional Sommelier and enterpreneur will be teaching this certification.

HFTM WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Certification

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Wines is a weekend certification held on Saturday, January 16th and Sunday, January 17th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.. WSET Level 1 is an entry level qualification providing a straightforward introduction to wine. It is ideal for boosting the confidence of new or inexperienced front line staff in the hospitality and retail sectors. It's also a great course for those wanting to know the main grape varieties and food and wine matching.
