Gourmet Food & Wine Expo 2013

STUDENTS:  On Friday, November 15th, the annual Gourmet Food & Wine Expo will be taking place at the Toronto Convention Center.

HTMSA will be selling a limited number of tickets on November 13th and 14th (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) in the MINS FACS Lounge.  Stay tuned for the costs through HFTMSA.

The bus will board at 5:45pm in front of PJ’s Restaurant (MACS building), depart at 6pm, and will leave the expo at 10pm, returning to campus at approximately 11pm.

It will be a great night of food and wine!

 

'Think Pink' Event a Huge Success

HTMSA event "Think Pink", an annual fundraiser in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Assocation was held last night at 39 Carden Street.  It was a great evening of food, drinks and live music featuring several HTM students.

2013 Canadian Hospitality Foundation Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to the following scholarship recipients who were awarded at the Canadian Hospitality Foundation Ball on Saturday; Jade Papke (Starwood Hotels & Resorts Scholarship); Apolline Gaignard (Andrew Peller Limited Scholarship) and Rachael Allen (Jack C. Sim Scholarship)!!


 

Distinguished Alumni Honoured

The HAFA/HTM Alumni Association Recognition event took place on October 24th at the Four Seasons Hotel.  The annual event honours distinguished alumni for their accomplishments.  This year, winners include; Darcy MacDonnell, B.Comm. '02, MA'10 winner of the HTM Alumni Entrepreneur Award; David Larone, B.Comm. '75 received the George D. Bedell Alumni Award and Becky Campbell, B.Comm. '09 was awarded the HTM Alumni Leader of Tomorrow Award.  Congratulations all!

 

 

HTM's WSET Instructor Wins the WOSA World Cup

HTM's Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) instructor, Will Predhomme wins 1st place in the WOSA - Wines of South Africa Sommelier World Cup competition that took place on the weekend! Congratulations from the School Will!

Planet Bean Conducts In-Class Coffee Tasting

Planet Bean, a sustainability-focused Guelph-based coffee organization, conducted a coffee tasting in Prof. Justin Taillon's HTM*1000: Introduction to Hospitality & Tourism course this afternoon. Slow Food, a professional association in the School of HTM, assisted with the entire event. The students learned the complexities of the coffee industry, from the supply chain to roasting.
