This session will examine what wellness means and provides simple steps to help participants set their own health goals and keep them on track for achieving their personal definitions of wellness.

The Wellness Education Centre is hosting virtual Mood Moves every Wednesday for students and employees.
Join us for a quick stretching and movement session at your own comfort level! Our group will meet online for a quick check in, followed by about 10 minutes of stretching and light activity!
This group aims to support your mental and physical health by providing you with an opportunity to take a step back from your responsibilities and stresses, while helping add some activity into your day.
Join Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos for a second discussion on the current COVID-19 pandemic. This brief talk will be followed by Q & A. Please submit any questions you have when you register.

About the Facilitator: Andy is a professor in the Department of Population Medicine and the coordinator of the Master of Public Health Program. His research focuses on environmental public health issues and public health policy.

From a very young age we adopt common physical hygiene habits such as brushing our teeth, washing our hands and taking regular showers. What about hygiene habits that focus on our mental health? This 1 hour, interactive session will increase participant’s awareness and understanding of psychological hygiene while learning the factors that can promote and preserve good mental health. Individuals will gain practical tools and resources to activate their own personal psychological hygiene practice.

This program will identify key areas to support wellbeing and resilience during intensely stressful times. The program will focus on the role of strengths, emotions and mindfulness to reduce stress, build vitality and enhance wellbeing.
This 3 part session will run on Jan 26, Feb 2, and Feb 9. You will automatically be enrolled in all sessions when you register for part 1.

This group program meets twice a week for 6 weeks (12 sessions in total) to maximize the opportunity to practice and develop strong skills in releasing body tension, and calming and focusing the mind. This educational program emphasizes skill acquisition and education about stress management and high performance. This is not a self-disclosure or therapy group; the purpose is skills practice.

This group program meets once a week for 3 weeks to develop and practice skills in decreasing the uncomfortable sensations of anxiety.
A variety of long and short self-calming techniques are introduced, along with behaviours that can help prevent escalation of anxiety. All techniques in this program have originated from research into strategies which decrease anxiety. They have been well studied and the most up-to-date information will be presented.

When leaders can tap into that powerful source of energy it can have a deep, positive effect on work relationships and successful outcomes. In this session we will explore the science behind the impact of appreciation, recognition, and gratitude, what makes it such a dynamic force and the specific ways you can integrate these energy sources into your daily leadership practice.
The Power of Sharing
We all have stories to tell – significant life challenges we have faced, risks we’ve taken, changes we’ve made to improve our lives, lessons we’ve learned, and more and more and more.
Join us to hear from three women who will share their personal stories followed by small group discussions.
LivingWorks Start is a 90-minute online alertness training that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and connect them to help and support. Through the LivingWorks Start training, you'll learn a powerful four-step model to keep someone safe from suicide, and you'll have a chance to practice it with impactful simulations. Safety resources and support are available throughout the program.
Beyond the Books is a live, virtual session that will first provide participants with general information on the prevalence of mental challenges and illness. It will then help participants to identify signs of troubling behaviour and give them skills to engage in a preliminary discussion to determine if referral to a professional is necessary. Participants will also learn how and where to refer appropriately in a compassionate and effective manner.
