Reading the Humanities from a Distance - A Survey of Text Analysis Tools

Description:

Are you interested in exploring hypotheses or uncovering patterns across vast amount of textual information? This is a survey course intended to introduce distant reading techniques that address word count and location, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and topic modelling.  Attendees will get hands on experience with key tools (including TAGS, OpenRefine, Voyant, AntConc, NER, Topic Modeling Tool, and Python), and obtain an understanding of the text analysis workflow.  

 

Intended Audience:

Anyone interested in learning more about how to gather, clean, and analyze text. No previous experience is required.
