The 17th Annual HFTM Job Expo will be held on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Peter Clark Hall in the University Centre. Join us on Wednesday, January 20th for the annual HAFA/HFTM Alumni Association Career Networking Night. This event continues to be a success thanks to the enthusiastic participation from our alumni and students. Alumni are excited to come back to the School to meet and share their career experiences with our students. The format of the evening will include round table discussions between alumni and students with each table focusing on a specific career area of interest to students.
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits certification is offered every Monday evening from January 18th to March 21st from 7 - 9:30 p.m. for 9 weeks. This qualification will teach you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, tasting techniques, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs. Will Predhomme, a prominent Canadian professional Sommelier and enterpreneur will be teaching this certification.
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Wines is a weekend certification held on Saturday, January 16th and Sunday, January 17th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.. WSET Level 1 is an entry level qualification providing a straightforward introduction to wine. It is ideal for boosting the confidence of new or inexperienced front line staff in the hospitality and retail sectors. It's also a great course for those wanting to know the main grape varieties and food and wine matching.
What is Smart Serve? Smart Serve is a certification required by the province of Ontario for all individuals who plan to serve alcoholic beverages while working in the hospitality industry. Individuals of all ages may take this training and be certified, but you must be 18 years of age or older to serve, sell, or handle alcohol in Ontario.
