Plant Agriculture PhD Investment Initiative

$150,000 in PhD Funding Available

The University of Guelph’s Department of Plant Agriculture has launched a new PhD Investment Initiative worth $150,000 (over four years) for highly-qualified domestic PhD applicants.

The department is looking for the best and brightest students to join its PhD research program. Research in the department focuses on a variety of interests in the areas of:

  • biochemistry and physiology
  • breeding and genomics
  • production systems
  • bio-products

Funding Eligibility

Please contact us if:

  • You are keen to make a difference through the application of science
  • You are a Canadian citizen, living in or outside of Canada OR
  • You are a Permanent Resident of Canada

Additional considerations and conditions:

  • Must have completed an M.Sc. degree closely aligned to the following specializations: Plant breeding and genetics; Plant biochemistry and physiology; Crop production systems; and Bioproducts
  • Minimum 87% admissions average 
  • Must have been awarded additional funding, such as NSERC, OGS or HQP scholarships
  • Up to a maximum of four years of funding available, which will be reviewed annually with satisfactory progress
