Philosophy of Feminism (PHIL*2060)

Term: Winter 2015

Details

This course provides an introduction to philosophical issues in feminism and feminist issues in philosophy. We begin by examining what we mean by 'feminism' and 'equality'. We look briefly at the history and development of feminist theory and feminist movements. We then turn to feminist theory written by women of colour and lesbians/queer women, exploring how differences among women affect our ideas about equality. The third part of the course covers feminist issues that arise in the discipline of philosophy, where we examine some feminist approaches to different areas of philosophy.
