Use of mailboxes

Decided at department meeting of November 7, 2014.

Departmental mailboxes are not to be used for undergraduates to drop off assignments.  This is unworkable and imposes an unreasonable burden on staff who inevitably have to direct the undergraduates to the small room containing the mailboxes, then to the mailboxes, then (in some cases) to the particular slot they are to use.

Undergraduates are to hand in assignments either in class or some other way directed by the instructor.

This policy does not apply to graduate students, since they already know where the mailboxes are and can leave items in faculty boxes without help from staff.
