2014 HAFA/HFTM AA Golf Tournament

Join alumni and friends on Friday, May 30th, 2014 at our 10th annual golf tournament. This year it will be held at the Richmond Hill Golf Club at 8755 Bathurst Street in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Continental Breakfast is served at 7:45 am with tee-off (shotgun start) at 8:30 am. The early bird rate is $150 per golfer before 3 p.m. on April 17th, $165 after April 17th. Golf only is $120 and lunch only is $30. Registration is now open.

Professor Bruce McAdams interviewed on tipping

Professor Bruce McAdams was interviewed and participated in a discussion this morning on CBC's 'The Current'. 

A new study confirms that tipping has little to do with service and more to do with where you live, the colour of a server's hair, the use of smiley faces and the occasional touch.   Should we end tipping in Canada?  Several people are interviewed with differing views on what that would do to the restaurant industry.

Garden2Table wins 1st place for College Exhibit at College Royal

During College Royal this year, Garden2Table opened up the doors of the foods lab to teach children how to create healthy recipes! They enjoyed the microwave potato chips the most, and were surprised to learn they also enjoyed kale chips.

It was a successful weekend in which 60-80 kids attended the event. Garden2Table also won first place exhibit in the College of Management and Economics! Thanks for a great weekend!

2014 HFTM Annual Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday evening, March 26th, the School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management held its Annual Awards Ceremony. Many students, donors, family and faculty were in attendance to honour the achievements of the award recipients.

HFTM Takes Home Third Place at the Digital Restaurant Project Workshop

On March 14th and 15th, nine students travelled to Ryerson University to attend the Digital Restaurant Project workshop and compete in the annual Hospitality and Tourism Case Competition. Alyson Gregoire, Alexandre Brown, Simon Benevides, Meghan Wright, Emily Pritchard, Tom Beckett, Gina Yhip, Fanyi Wei, and Becky McIlroy competed against students from both Ryerson and the University of Quebec and Montreal (UQAM) to analyze either a hospitality or tourism case and make a formal presentation to a panel of judges.

HFTM Represented at the YHS in Switzerland

HFTMers Hildegard van Niewerk, Ashley Ferreira, and Julie Ridlington attended a 'meet and greet' yesterday evening in Lausanne, Switzerland. The trio are currently in Switzerland representing the University of Guelph at the Young Hotelier Summit (YHS).  Joining them in this picture is Guelph alum Jennifer DiRaddo from FRHI. The Interim Director of the School, Joe Barth, is also attending the event.
