The Ontario Agricultural College invites you to this year’s Future Thinkers speaker series Monday, October 16th, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Join us for a thought-provoking conversation led by our keynote speaker Dr. Lenore Newman titled ‘The auroch’s banshee wail: farming in an uncertain future.’

Humanity is locked into a race between rapidly worsening climate disruption and phenomenal advances in technology. Nowhere is this more true, or more dire, than in the agricultural systems that feed our planet. In this talk Lenore moves between the food production breakthroughs of history and the eye-opening breakthroughs appearing on farms and labs around the world. From the ancient beast that became the modern cow to the indoor farms feeding the parched and burning western provinces, join Lenore on a wild ride through ten thousand years of food and technology. Dr. Newman is the director of the Food and Agriculture Institute at the University of the Fraser Valley where she specializes in agricultural innovation and policy. She holds a research chair in food and agriculture innovation and is a past Canada Research Chair in Food Security and the Environment.
