Instructors: Diane Jakacki and Laura Mandell

Classroom: McLaughlin Library Room 103

This intermediate workshop is designed for textual scholars who have a working knowledge of TEI and are ready to go to the next step: using text encoding to develop or expand a digital edition or text-based collection for analysis and publication. In this project-based, hands-on workshop,we will explore deeper levels of encoding that involve semantic as well as diplomatic and critical markup. Participants will learn how to encode their texts to optimize for analyzing text, linking data, and publishing digital editions. By the end of the week, working with TEI, XSLT, and CSS participants will have a sample digital edition, viewable online, with textual data extracted for incremental analysis.

Intended Audience:

This course is an extension to the introduction to TEI workshops offered at various DH events.
