New Philosophy undergraduate scholarship
The Department of Philosophy is excited to announce that one of our faculty, Andrew Bailey, has committed to supporting (for five years) a new scholarship, the Philosophy Excellence Scholarship. The $1,500 award will go each year to the Philosophy major with the highest grade in a 1000-level Philosophy course. The department's other faculty are supporting this financially, with the goal of endowing a self-sustaining endowment for this award to continue beyond the initial period.
Kyle Bromhall wins Young Scholar Prize
The William James Society has awarded its 2017 Young Scholar Prize to Kyle Bromhall for his essay, "Embodied Akrasia: James on Motivation and Weakness of Will.". Kyle is a recent graduate of the PhD program in Philosophy at the University of Guelph, where he currently teaches.

John Russon wins research grant
Our Professor John Russon has been awarded a Shastri Institutional Collaborative Research Grant (SICRG) for the project “The Ethics of Teaching in Pluralistic and Unequal Societies” in collaboration with Professor Siby K. George from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. This two year grant is supported by funds from Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), government of India. Congratulations, John!
