Position Type: Temporary, part-time (January 29 2024 – April 26 2024)
Hours: 5-15 hours/week (or 10 if it doesn’t give you a range option)
Wage: $18/hour
Contract Length: January 6 – April 25, potential to extend into May 2025, and return in Fall 2025

The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) Liaison Team is growing! We are looking for one (1) enthusiastic current University of Guelph student to help with our outreach and recruitment activities to grow undergraduate and diploma programs. Reporting to the OAC Liaison Manager, the incumbents will assist with all activities involved in promotion of OAC’s academic programs including class visits, high school student recruitment activities, and online program promotion.

In this position, you will develop your skills and talents in event planning and management, written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

The incumbents should be prepared to commit to the full January - April contract length, with the potential ability to return in September 2025.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist with on, off, and virtual campus OAC events of varying scale, including meeting and guiding guests; event set up; introducing speakers; assisting with or leading activities
• Assist with recruiting, scheduling, and managing volunteers and speakers for events
• Edit and design outreach materials (i.e., social media content)
• Assist and/or lead in the development of new learning materials in your study area of expertise
• Provide administrative support including answering inquiries from prospective students, preparing event materials, and communicating via email, phone, or in-person with program partners
• Assist in the creation of social media content to promote OAC academic programs
• Staff booths/exhibitors’ spaces and promote OAC programs at external events

Qualifications

• Comfortable speaking in front of large audiences
• Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Energized by working as a part of a team
• Strong customer service focus
• Willingness to learn new things and skills
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work flexible hours when needed, including potential for occasional off-campus travel
• G level divers license is considered an asset
• Preference given to OAC students
