A University of Guelph Honorary Doctorate was presented to Charles Grieco during convocation on Tuesday, June 10th at the 9:00 a.m. ceremony.
Professor Marion Joppe was interviewed by CBC news on the status of Chinese tourism in the Windsor-Essex region of Ontario. According to Joppe, in order to attract more visitors from China, the area should expand its attractions to include large shopping centres primarily found around major cities.

The University of Guelph and the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management welcome approximately 60 international delegates to the eighth Tourism Education Futures Initiative Conference (TEFI8) from June 4 to 7. This year’s theme, “Transformational Learning: Activism, empowerment and political agency in tourism education” is in keeping with TEFI’s mission to push boundaries, think creatively and inform and support tourism educators and students to transform the world for the better.
Along with several faculty on campus, HFTM Professors Erna van Duren and Mike von Massow will be attending the Canadian Association of Food Studies conference in St. Catharines from May 24 - 27th. The Conference theme is "Borders without Boundaries: Exploring Collaboration in Food Studies".
Congratulations to first year HAFA Co-op student, Helen (Michellina) Martinez and third year HAFA Co-op student Michelle Chan who were both awarded a $2,000 Tourism Cares Scholarship. These scholarships recognize "an exemplary representative of the future of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries".
