Our Sympathies: Don Pestell
The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) mourns the passing of Donald Pestell (RCAT ’62), a visionary entrepreneur and generous supporter of U of G and its Ridgetown Campus, whose legacy will continue to shape the campus for generations to come.
Born and raised on a small farm in Ethel, Ontario, Don’s life reflected the values of hard work, determination and curiosity. From his rural beginnings, he built an extraordinary career as an entrepreneur, achieving global business success while remaining deeply connected to his agricultural roots and committed to giving back.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Ontario Agricultural College and the agri-food sector, Don was inducted into the Order of OAC in 2013.
“Don will be remembered not only for his remarkable accomplishments, but for his humility, generosity and unwavering belief in investing in people and the institutions that help shape a better future,” says OAC Dean, John Cranfield.A passionate advocate for the future of agriculture, animals and healthcare, Don’s philanthropy touched many lives. At the Ridgetown Campus, his generous support helped establish the Pestell Student Services Building.
"Don's generosity helped create a welcoming hub that provides exceptional services and support for students, faculty, staff and the broader campus community," says Steven Loewen, interim director for the Ridgetown Campus.
