Our Sympathies: Helmut Frederic Loewen

The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) community mourns the passing of Helmut Loewen, a proud member of the OAC Class of 1960 (Crop Science), who passed away peacefully after a short illness.

Helmut will be remembered as a well-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife Ann, son David (Toni), daughter Amy (Carlo), stepchildren Jeanette (Sam) and Michael (Sarah), as well as his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (née Farr), and sister Bertha (Don).

Helmut was known for his love of nature and the outdoors. An avid gardener, he found joy in tending to his plants and spending time outside. He also enjoyed curling, golf, and creating beautiful stained-glass art and lamps, pursuits that reflected his creativity and appreciation for beauty in everyday life.

Helmut’s warmth, generosity, and spirit of curiosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
