Our Sympathies: OAC Alumnus Kenneth Graydon
The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) community is saddened by the passing of alumnus Kenneth Rubert "Ken" Graydon, who died peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 91.
A proud OAC graduate, Graydon earned both his bachelor's (Class of 1956) and master's degrees in agricultural science before building a distinguished career in communications, education and community leadership. He began as a farm radio broadcaster with CBC in the late 1950s, helping connect Canadian farmers with news and information before moving into association management.
Graydon remained deeply connected to his alma mater throughout his life. As leader of the OAC Class of '56 reunion committee, he played an instrumental role in bringing classmates together and strengthening their connection to the College. His dedication helped ensure generations of OAC graduates remained engaged with the community that shaped them.
Graydon later became a founding director of the Automotive Business School of Canada at Georgian College, where he helped establish one of Canada's leading automotive business education programs. In recognition of his contributions, Georgian College awarded him an Honorary Bachelor of Applied Studies degree in 2005.
Known for his generosity and commitment to service, Graydon also volunteered on the board of Caledon Meals on Wheels and served for 20 years as organist and choir director at Caven Presbyterian Church. A gifted pianist and songwriter, he brought people together through music and was remembered for his warmth, quick wit and enduring friendships.
Graydon's lifelong commitment to learning, leadership and community reflected the values of the Ontario Agricultural College. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the lasting connections he fostered among fellow alumni and the pride he took in giving back to OAC.
