2019-20 Changes to Tuition, Fees and OSAP

The University of Guelph is currently reviewing the announcement by the Government of Ontario about changes to tuition, student compulsory fees and OSAP. These changes are outlined below with the details that are currently available. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Tuition

Tuition for domestic students will be reduced by 10% in 2019-20, followed by a freeze in tuition in the following year.

Compulsory Fees

The Student Choice Initiative allows students to choose which optional fees they wish to pay each semester. Fees used to fund campus-wide services and facilities (e.g., health services, athletics and bus pass) will remain compulsory. Read more about optional fees and compulsory fees.

OSAP will calculate your educational costs and determine how much funding you will receive based on compulsory fees.

OSAP

The purpose of OSAP is to supplement a student's contribution to their educational costs. The amount that students will be expected to contribute will increase from $3,000 to $3,600 for 2019-20.

A student who has been out of high school for six or more years at the start of their study period will be considered an independent student for OSAP purposes. (The previous definition was four or more years.)

This information is posted on the OSAP website.
