New Senior Manager, Shared IT Services

The OAC’s Dean’s Office is pleased to announce Ann Cesar as the Senior Manager, Shared IT Services. Ann will begin in this new role on July 3rd, 2023. 

In this role, Ann will support IT services throughout OAC, including both the Guelph and Ridgetown Campus. She will also support U of G’s College of Arts IT needs.

So, you’ve decided to apply to graduate school – congratulations on taking the next step in your educational career! 

One of the key parts of these applications is asking for a reference or finding a supervisor. As someone who has gone through this process, I’m here to give you by best tips from writing a reference request, to inquiring about a thesis supervisor. And as someone who is starting graduate school in a few short weeks, I think I’m qualified to share some of the dos and don’ts!

Saving money on a student budget

To enhance my own student life, I am always trying to take part in travel opportunities and extra-curriculars. However, this can often increase my spending, making budgeting extremely important to my day-day activities. As a result, I’ve become pretty good at planning ahead and budgeting my meals. How (not) to write an undergrad thesis in 8 weeks

The dos and don’ts of undergrad thesis writing, from someone who had three months to write theirs. 

In the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) program, students are required to write a thesis in the fall semester of their fourth year. The topic is up to you, and I chose to write about climate change, with a thesis titled “High tides mean high time: Using landscape architecture to facilitate successful climate migration through managed retreat”.
