The OAC Dean’s Office is pleased to announce Tina Goebel as the new Associate Director of Finance and Operations. Tina will begin in the role on September 24, 2018.
"We are so pleased that Tina will join OAC in this vital leadership position,” shares Rene Van Acker, Dean of OAC. “She has the right experience, the depth of knowledge and the collegial nature to excel in this key role and help the college to realize its strategic priorities."
Shelby Avann is a graduate of the equine management major who sat down with us to share her career experiences so far. She currently works at Chiefswood Stables Thoroughbred Breeding Farm, which focuses on foaling and raising fillies and colts for racing. The foals she helps birth go on to race at Woodbine here in Ontario and also in Florida, Kentucky and New York. She’s been in the role for three years, with a year in between working abroad in Australia.
The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) is pleased to welcome Leith Deacon and Dave Guyadeen as new assistant professors in rural planning and development. They both began their roles on August 15th.
Deacon and Guyadeen will teach the theory and practice of planning through the development of knowledge, skills and values in variety of contexts, and will provide leadership and guidance for graduate students.
Thomas Hache came to the University of Guelph to study food science because he was interested in the science of food rather than the culinary aspects. Through classes and events he began meeting fellow OAC students commonly known as ‘Aggies’. At first, he wasn’t sure if a food science student would fit in with the Aggie crowd, but today he even sports a traditional ‘OAC Aggies’ leather jacket.
The University of Guelph has named Dr. John Sulik as Assistant Professor of Precision Agriculture. His role began on June 4, 2018. Eager to share his unique training and experience with the next generation of agricultural researchers, Sulik will be a key member of the Food from Thought research team.
