Different people have different ideas, values, beliefs and viewpoints, and occasionally that can lead to disagreement. Conflict is a naturally occurring part of working with others. Skillfully managing yourself during a disagreement can ensure you contribute to a workplace that encourages people to express their differences, challenge ideas respectfully and promotes a dynamic environment that is collaborative, innovative and adaptable to change.
This half-day program will introduce participants to concepts and strategies for assessing and understanding conflict as well as a foundation for managing it combined with interactive activities and opportunities to collaborate with University colleagues.
Learning Focus:

Gain insight into your own and others' attitudes, values, and preferences

Identify the underlying causes of a conflict situation to understand the factors that create and fuel the conflict

Develop specific communication techniques and approaches to promote understanding in conflict and build your capacity to talk through differences to reach an agreement
