Grower Pesticide Safety Certificate Training and Exterminators Licensing

University personnel who apply pesticides to fields in farming applications are required to carry the Growers Pesticide Safety Certificate. University of Guelph researchers applying pesticides in field operations are expected to complete this certificate also, though strictly speaking, research is exempt.

The Grower Pesticide Safety Certificate is renewed on a 5 year cycle, is no longer held on Guelph campus as it is offered at many local venues and is now online also.

Please maintain your certification by registering for a course on the Ontario Pesticide Education Program website.

Researchers applying pesticides in micro quantities in laboratory spaces require lab chemical safety training.

Personnel applying pesticides for extermination purposes require an Exterminators license. Please contact the Manager, Agriculture and Veterinary Safety for further details.
