Workplace Inspections

This training is ideal for those responsible for workplace inspections - managers, supervisors and Joint Health and Safety Committee members, Health and Safety Representatives. It is foundational information for those who wish to become involved in workplace safety.

The Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act gives the power to a worker member of the Joint Health and Safety committee or Health and Safety Representative to conduct inspections of the physical conditions of the workplace. 

Successful workplace inspections follow recognized steps and knowing what to look for and why is critical when conducting workplace inspections 

Participants will be introduced to hazard identification and gain an understanding of how workplace inspections are conducted at University of Guelph workplaces, including what workplace inspections entail, specifically those required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. 

Participants will engage in group discussions and exercises and implement the five stages of the inspection cycle.
