Utility Vehicles, Golf Cards and Gators

All operators, including staff, student volunteers and guests, who indicate a need to operate these small utility vehicles are required to attend training prior to use. Annual refreshers are advised for returning part time staff and assigned program participants, such as First Responders and SafeWalk.

This short session provides guidance on the safe use of all makes of utility vehicles at University of Guelph workplaces.

Appropriate pathways of travel for the safe use of various models of mobile equipment - including Club Car, Polaris and Columbia utility vehicles, golf carts and John Deere Gators and Case Scouts, will be reviewed.

Safe operation, appropriate speed and authorized locations for use will be discussed, along with parking and the challenges of maneuvering mobile equipment across shared pedestrian pathways.

Please contact the Manager, Agriculture and Veterinary Safety for in-person presentations. An Online offering is available for full time staff, following their initial training.
