Associate Director, Finance and Operations Announced

The OAC Dean’s Office is pleased to announce Tina Goebel as the new Associate Director of Finance and Operations. Tina will begin in the role on September 24, 2018.

"We are so pleased that Tina will join OAC in this vital leadership position,” shares Rene Van Acker, Dean of OAC. “She has the right experience, the depth of knowledge and the collegial nature to excel in this key role and help the college to realize its strategic priorities."

Two New Rural Planning and Development Profs

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) is pleased to welcome Leith Deacon and Dave Guyadeen as new assistant professors in rural planning and development. They both began their roles on August 15th. 

Deacon and Guyadeen will teach the theory and practice of planning through the development of knowledge, skills and values in variety of contexts, and will provide leadership and guidance for graduate students.

New Precision Agriculture Prof: Dr. John Sulik

The University of Guelph has named Dr. John Sulik as Assistant Professor of Precision Agriculture. His role began on June 4, 2018. Eager to share his unique training and experience with the next generation of agricultural researchers, Sulik will be a key member of the Food from Thought research team.

New Capacity Development and Extension Prof

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) is pleased to welcome Ataharul Chowdhury as an assistant professor in capacity development and extension. Chowdhury began in his role on July 1st, 2018.

New Communications and Events Coordinator Announced

The OAC Dean’s Office is pleased to announce Jordan Terpstra as the new Communications and Events Coordinator.

In this new role, Jordan will support OAC’s strategic initiatives through a variety of internal and external communication projects and events. He will work collaboratively with a variety of contacts across the College and University and play a key support role in maintaining and enhancing communication with OAC’s various stakeholders.

Chair in Food Systems Leadership Appointed

The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) is pleased to announce that Prof. Mike von Massow has been appointed as the OAC Chair in Food Systems Leadership. He begins his five-year-term on June 1, 2018.

In this new position for the college, von Massow will provide academic leadership and leverage opportunities that will keep the University at the forefront of food sector analysis and outreach in Canada.
