This year, several tours have been arranged to provide insights into unique facets of the Guelph campus, and to enable participation for those whose workplace is off limits for shadowing. Unless otherwise indicated, the drop off and pick up locations will remain the same.
- Please complete the Release and Indemnification Form (Page 5). If your student will be participating in other activities, please indicate the activities they will observe on the form and obtain the necessary signatures. Forward completed form to ehs@uoguelph.ca.
- Upon submission of the Release and Indemnification Form, EHS will review and forward the online Microsoft Bookings link for registrants to sign up for tours. These tours are available for limited group sizes and must be registered for in advance through the MS Bookings page by November 2, 2026, by end of day. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email.
- Parents/ guardians: Please make arrangements to get your student to and from the tours.
NEW! General Welcome Orientation (At Guelph Campus)
- Location: Peter Clark Hall, North Wing, UC 001A
- Time: 8:45 am to 9:15 am
- Description: Explore what makes U of G unique and why so many Gryphons call it home! We’ll dive into our vibrant campus community, share a quick overview of our academic programs, and offer practical tips on how to choose the right post-secondary path for you. The session also includes safety orientation covering topics such as worker rights and responsibilities, workplace hazards, and what to do if an incident occurs on campus. Note: this does not replace the mandatory department orientation that is to be provided to students by the host department.

Tour 1 (Breaking Bad in the Chemistry Lab)
- Location: Meet at Summerlee Science Complex Room 2111
- Time: 9:30 am to 11:30 am
- Description: Chemistry is fun! Come and perform a real experiment and learn about some of the techniques and equipment used in the lab.
- Max # of Participants: Limited to 12 participants.
Tour 2 (Muscles in Action!)
- Location: Meet at the entrance to the John T. Powel Building (across from the P12 parking lot beside the Gryphon Centre)
- Time: 9:30 am to 11:00 am
- Description: Come visit the Human Health Sciences team to jump, squeeze, and put your muscles to the test as you discover how your muscles “light up” to create movement!
- Max # of Participants: Limited to 10 participants.
Tour 3 (Biodiversity, Insect Collection and DNA Barcoding)
- Location: Meet at the entrance to the Centre for the Biodiversity Genomics, building 135
- Time: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
- Description: Ever wonder how DNA is determined and used to identify species? This 60-minute tour will include a review of DNA barcoding processes and a visit to the Centre’s insect collection.
- Max # of Participants: Limited to 10 participants
Tour 4 (Ontario Veterinary College Complex Tour)
- Location: Outside OVC Lifetime Learning Centre (OVC LLC), Room 1713
- Time: 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm
- Description: This tour is of veterinary teaching spaces for about 50 minutes, led by student veterinarians in the DVM program. Perfect for all future veterinarians! Due to biosecurity and confidentiality concerns, visitors to OVC are not permitted to “wander around” or explore within the clinics without a guide. Please note that there is a strict no photography or video recording policy in areas where animal patients or client names are present. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted on tours.

Tour 5 (Department of Athletics)
- Location: Meet in the Lobby, through the Larry Pearson entrance
- Time: 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm
- Description: Tour the state of the art, award-winning Athletics facilities and learn about the benefits of physical activity on mental health and well-being.
- Max # of Participants: Limited to 20 participants
Tour 6 (Bovey Greenhouse)
- Location: Front foyer of Bovey Building
- Time: 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
- Description: See current research projects and answer questions such as: "Can plants help treat cancer in humans?" Visit the Bovey tropical plant collection and learn about plants that are part of the world's food economy as well as those that are just plain weird! As time allows, participants will propagate a plant to take home.
- Max # of Participants: Limited to 20 participants
Tour 7 (Campus Tours)
- Location: Campus Tour Centre, University Centre, 3rd floor (take North Elevators)
- Time: 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
- Description: This tour runs for 1.5 hours and covers all the highlights of campus! Stops include: Rozanski Hall, the Science Complex Atrium, the Library, MacNaughton Bookstore, Athletics, Creelman dining hall and residence. Tours start from the Campus Tour Centre, third floor UC (take the North elevator) and finish in the UC main level courtyard.

Tour 8 (College of Arts – Beyond the Stage)
- Location: meet in the ARC lobby outside the Black Box Theatre (MCKN 101) in the performance wing of the MacKinnon Building
- Time: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
- Description: Go behind the scenes of theatre and music performance and production, exploring our black box theatre, costume and scene building labs, and music studios. Meet arts professionals, discover how performances come together, and try your hand at thinking like an arts creator.
- Max # of Participants: Limited to 12 participants
Tour 9 (Creelman Dining Hall Tour)
- Location: Creelman Hall (please meet outside Creelman Hall)
- Time: 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
- Description: Join Chef Andrew at Creelman Hall for a behind the scenes tour of one of U of G's most famous dining halls. You'll have a chance to see how we prepare to feed our students and community, how we plan the weekly menus and get a chance to see the Creelman Bakeshop. Please wear closed toed shoes - non-slip recommended.
