New Director of Advancement

Alumni Affairs and Development and the OAC Dean’s Office are pleased to announce Morag Stewart as the Director of Advancement for OAC. Stewart will begin her role on June 24, 2019.

The OAC Dean’s Office is pleased to announce Lauren Schurman as the new Awards Officer and Assistant to the Associate Dean (External).

OAC Student Liaison Program expanding

The OAC Dean's Office is pleased to announce Carleigh Johnston has been promoted to the role of OAC Liaison Manager as part of an expansion of the OAC Student Liaison Program.

Johnston has worked with the program since 2013. She started with the team in a part-time capacity as the OAC Alumni Foundation Student Intern, and then in 2017 she was the successful applicant for the role of OAC Liaison Officer.

Johnston has a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Guelph, and has been a significant contributor to the OAC Student Liaison program’s success.

Celebrating Earth Day

Earth Day, April 22, is an annual worldwide event to celebrate our planet and support environmental protection. Our graduate students work hard each day to push boundaries and conduct important research to address critical environmental issues in a sustainable way.

New animal systems modelling researcher

The Department of Animal Biosciences is pleased to welcome Jennifer Ellis as an assistant professor in animal systems modelling. Ellis began in her role on April 1, 2019.

In this role, Ellis will establish a research program on the integration of multiple sources of data related to nutrition, physiology, genetics and behaviour of animals in mathematical models for the purpose of improving performance, product quality, animal health and welfare, and/or the natural environment.

New soil biochemistry researcher

The School of Environmental Sciences (SES) is pleased to welcome Adam Gillespie as an assistant professor in soil biochemistry. Gillespie began in his role on October 15, 2018.

In this position, Gillespie will continue to work on research related to soil organic matter dynamics and nutrient cycling, particularly the carbon cycle. He will also advise graduate students and teach soil science courses at the graduate and undergraduate level.
