Cancelled - NEW Days (Virtual) - June 2025

This session has been cancelled due to low registration. NEW Days is the kick-off to the NEW @ the U program at the University of Guelph. One day at the beginning of each month of the year (excluding January, April, July, August, and December) has been dedicated to welcoming and connecting new employees to the University environment and giving them a positive start.

Building Leadership Effectiveness

Building Leadership Effectiveness is a 2 day program running, June 5 & 6th, 2025 from 9 am - 4 pm. Introduction Building Leadership Effectiveness (BLE) encourages leaders to develop practices that transform values into action, vision into realities, obstacles into innovations, and risks into rewards. Participants will be introduced to the five practices of exemplary leadership: modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, challenging the process, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart.

Human Rights Fundamentals: Addressing Discrimination and Harassment

This interactive workshop encourages participants to move beyond the text of Ontario's human rights legislation to understand how legal requirements affect our day-to-day work. How do we identify when behaviour is harassment or discrimination? How do we know when behaviour rises to the level of a human rights violation? What is a reasonable response to a complaint in the circumstances? How do we prevent human rights violations from occurring in the first place? This workshop provides tools and strategies to respond to each of these questions.

RBC Lunch and Learn: Saving for a Child's Education

Parents with young children have big aspirations for their futures. Help them enter adulthood on the right foot with financial assistance for post-secondary education. This workshop will go through best practices on creating accessible documents in Word, PowerPoint and looking at converting them to accessible PDFs. During the workshop you'll be given files to remediate as you go through the topics and software. Bring your own laptop to the event. Building Resilience: Understanding Challenges, Learning Strategies, and Accepting Change

Research shows that individuals can improve how well they adapt to challenges and adversity. This session will help break negative thought patterns and offer healthier ways of thinking and behaving. Participants will be introduced to a variety of effective, practical tools to improve physical health, respect mental/emotional health, and cultivate a strong social support network. Mental Health First Aid

Developed by the Mental Health Commission Canada, this 1-day certification course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders. Course Objectives Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. Course participants will learn how to:
