The Day of Mourning - April 28

The University of Guelph will lower its flags to half-mast at noon on Tuesday, April 28th to mark the Day of Mourning in Canada.

This is the 29th anniversary of the event, observed on April 28 each year to honour people who have died or been injured on the job. Once the flags are lowered to half-mast, they will remain so until night fall on Wednesday, April 29th.

A joint proclamation recognizing the day has been issued by U of G and the University’s employee groups.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, an on campus ceremony will not be held this year.
