A virtual celebration was held for Wendy and several of her colleagues attended to celebrate with her.
In 1984, the Canadian Labour Congress established April 28th as the National Day of Mourning in Canada to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace.
The University of Guelph will lower its flags to half-mast at noon on Thursday, April 28th to mark the Day of Mourning. Once the flags are lowered to half-mast, they will remain so until dusk.
A joint proclamation recognizing the day has been issued by University of Guelph and the University’s unions and employee group leaders.

What does this mean?
No action is required on your part. Sun Life is working with pharmacies across the country to make this change, and it will happen automatically in their systems.

On February 1, 2023, an amended memo was issued to confirm that the University of Guelph will observe the Canada Day holiday on Friday, June 30, 2023.

On January 20, 2023, members of United Steelworkers Local 4120 and the University of Guelph, ratified the renewal collective agreement that was tentatively agreed to on January 11, 2023.
During the nine days of negotiations, talks were open, respectful and constructive, with the parties committed to addressing several key priorities for both sides.
The University of Guelph and USW Local 4120 have reached a tentative renewal agreement for the agreement that expired October 31, 2021. USW 4120 members will vote on ratification of the agreement. Information pertaining to the vote can be found below.
