Two special constables with the University of Guelph Campus Community Police (CCP) have been honoured as heroes for saving an elderly man’s life this past winter.
The Ontario Association of College and University Security Administrators gave its Heroism Award to constable Mario Deschamps and sergeant Larry O’Connell for saving the life of a Guelph senior citizen. A virtual ceremony was held last week.

The previous twelve months have been both difficult and unpredictable for faculty and staff who have been instrumental in the University’s response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. To show our gratitude for these ongoing and significant contributions the University leadership team has elected to provide an additional paid day off in conjunction with the July 1, 2021, Canada Day holiday.
University of Guelph biochemistry professor Dr. John Dawson is one of 10 educators across Canada to receive this year’s 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award.

The University of Guelph will lower its flags to half-mast the morning of Wednesday, April 28th to mark the Day of Mourning in Canada. Once the flags are lowered to half-mast, they will remain so until dusk.
The University of Guelph has finalized the Group Benefit premium rates with Sun Life for the upcoming policy year starting May 1, 2021.
