Extended Canada Day Break 2021

The previous twelve months have been both difficult and unpredictable for faculty and staff who have been instrumental in the University’s response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. To show our gratitude for these ongoing and significant contributions the University leadership team has elected to provide an additional paid day off in conjunction with the July 1, 2021, Canada Day holiday. 

U of G Prof Receives National Teaching Award

University of Guelph biochemistry professor Dr. John Dawson is one of 10 educators across Canada to receive this year’s 3M National Teaching Fellowship Award.

The award, sponsored by 3M Canada and the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE), celebrates extraordinary educational leadership and contributions to post-secondary teaching and learning.

The Day of Mourning - April 28, 2021

In 1984, the Canadian Labour Congress established April 28th as the National Day of Mourning in Canada to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace.

The University of Guelph will lower its flags to half-mast the morning of Wednesday, April 28th to mark the Day of Mourning in Canada. Once the flags are lowered to half-mast, they will remain so until dusk.

Group Benefit Premium Rates

The University of Guelph has finalized the Group Benefit premium rates with Sun Life for the upcoming policy year starting May 1, 2021.  A notice with details for employees can be found at https://www.uoguelph.ca/hr/staff-faculty/benefitsWe are pleased to advise that there will not be any premium rate changes for retirees.

It’s Time for Planning GOAL 2.0 Performance Summary Quality Conversations

This past year has been unparalleled in the impact it has had on all members of our University of Guelph community. Each of us has faced unique circumstances and challenges personally and professionally. As GOAL 2.0 Performance Summary Quality Conversations are initiated, we have encouraged managers to approach them with compassion and flexibility to acknowledge the challenges and complexities associated with working through the pandemic.
